About Voyage immobile

The photographs selected for this book were taken primarily during trips undertaken between 1989 and 1992. The contact sheets then lay dormant for years. Later, by revisiting and reworking the negatives, a pattern seemed to emerge.

Voyage immobile (Motionless Journey). The duality represented by these words is, in a way, reconciled in these images that embody them. Black and white flow into one another in the manner in which an artist might daub a blank sheet of paper with a charcoal stroke, like smoke that pervades everything. Finally, the composition of the images evokes the theatricality of cinema, tracing a common thread from one to the next of these « motionless Journeys ».
