The Prisoner ESP Cards
Zener cards are part of a 25-card deck featuring 5 symbols in 5 colors, each formed by an increasing number of lines: circle, cross, waves, square, star. Invented in 1920, they were used in early quantitative research in parapsychology, particularly by Joseph Banks Rhine, who is believed to be their inventor; he named them in honor of his colleague Karl Zener, who had conceived the five motifs.
Thus, in the excellent « Schizoid Man » episode of The Prisoner this deck is an important plot device.
In a playful spirit, I created an exact replica of the deck of cards used in the series. Reproduced from images taken from the episode, I only took creative liberty with the box since it’s not shown on screen.
